Arkansas firefighters save trapped kitten from ATM

Firefighters in Fort Smith, Arkansas saved a kitten from a Regions Bank ATM on July 28. The Fort Smith Animal Haven gave the cat the name Cash in honor of its ATM origins, according to a report by 5 News CBS.

«This is actually my first experience with a cat getting stuck in an ATM,» Ashley Deane, a vet tech at Fort Smith Animal Haven, said in the report. «You know, I never thought that somebody would be able to go up and make a withdrawal and get a cat out instead of some cash, so now we have both.»

The firefighters had to open up the ATM to retrieve the grey tabby cat. He was hungry and dehydrated but otherwise in good health, weighing just under a pound. Cash will be available for adoption once he is fully vaccinated and socialized with other cats in foster care, according to the report.
