Black history kiosk exhibit opens in Rochester, Minnesota

A traveling exhibit featuring a series of interactive Black history kiosks has opened at the University of Minnesota Rochester, according to a KTTC report. The kiosks highlight the achievements and stories of the Black community in Rochester from the 1960s to 2022.

Visitors can choose from 16 different stories, accessed through videos and photos on the kiosks, detailing individuals and significant locations. Curator Andre Crockett said the kiosk project, four years in the making, involved extensive research and interviews with community elders. «I’m still trying to grasp, you know, this moment… making history and then being trusted,» Crockett told the news outlet.

Community leaders hope to expand the Black history kiosk initiative to other locations in Rochester, including the airport and the history center.
