The Mobile County Health Department in Citronelle, Alabama, has opened its fifth health care kiosk, according to a WKRG 5 report. This one is located at its Women, Infants and Children office in Citronelle. The kiosk provides free access to naloxone kits, condoms and gun locks.
«MCHD greatly appreciates the support and assistance from the Citronelle community to establish placement for the fifth kiosk,» Danielle Simpson, MCHD overdose prevention program administrator, told the news outlet. «Expanding access to harm-reduction materials outside the city limits has been a priority.»
The kiosk aims to reduce infectious disease spread, prevent overdose deaths and connect individuals with support services. This follows the opening of four other kiosks in Mobile County, located in Mobile and Semmes.
