The city of Yarra, Australia has introduced a reverse vending machine for recycling beverage containers at Collingwood Leisure Centre, according to an announcement on the city’s website. The machine is part of the state of Victoria’s container deposit scheme which launched in November.
The reverse vending machines allow residents to be reimbursed 10 cents for recycling eligible cartons, plastic bottles, glass bottles and cans between 10 milliliters and one liter.
Arrangements are being made to install reverse vending machines at three more locations across the municipality.
