Nenuphar, a historic restaurant and hotel in Afsnee, Belgium, has partnered with PPDS and AV integrator TechWorks to install Philips Tableaux Advanced Color ePaper displays, according to a case study shared with this publication.
The ePaper digital signage replaces paper posters and digitizes communications, with the project including installation of four portable 25-inch, 3.5 kilogram (approximately 7.7 pounds) Philips Tableaux «zero power» ePaper displays, aiming to bring the modern advantages of digital signage to the historic venue, which is located in a sub-municipality of Ghent and whose history dates from 1795.
The digital signage shares walls with original paintings by Ghent native Gustave De Smet, a pioneer of Flemish Expressionism.
The Tableaux displays feature an Android SoC processor, WiFi/LAN connectivity, and low power consumption, as the displays require no power to display color images and require only minimal power when changing images or during remote management.
Content presented on the displays includes special offers, restaurant menus, safety messaging and paintings by De Smet, and displays are capable of switching to corporate branding for special events.
«Our new Philips Tableaux digital poster displays fit right into the ethos and the aesthetics of Nenuphar, enabling us to take a more sustainable approach that looks great and enhances our brand,» Guillaume De Breyne, operational director at Nenuphar, said in the case study.
«Philips Tableaux was selected for its innovative and energy efficient ePaper technology, as well as its aesthetic appeal, suitable for Nenuphar’s high-end restaurant environment,» Diederik Maes, managing director at TechWorks, added in the case study.
