Simbe, a provider of retail shelf digitization, has launched Store Intelligence capabilities to provide grocery stores with a comprehensive solution for fresh departments.
The company’s platform, which combines robotics and sensors, is designed to address the challenges of high shrink and labor intensity in areas like produce, deli and bakery, according to a press release.
The system uses a multimodal approach, including the Tally autonomous mobile robot that scans packaged fresh goods for out-of-stocks and pricing errors. For high-frequency monitoring of fast-selling items like rotisserie chickens or prepared meals, Simbe uses a fixed-sensor solution called Tally Spot. The platform also offers Virtual Tour and Aisle Views for remote store management.
«From produce to baked goods, fresh is the performance center of the grocery store because of its importance to shoppers,» Brad Bogolea, co-founder and CEO of Simbe, said in the release. The company says the technology can help grocers reduce shrink, cut food waste by up to 88% and improve labor efficiency, ultimately leading to a better shopper experience.»
