Zebra Technologies, a retail technology company, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire interactive screen provider Elo Touch Solutions for $1.3 billion, according to a press release. The acquisition is intended to combine the companies’ complementary products and market strategies to offer a comprehensive portfolio for retail and other touch applications.

«This acquisition represents the next step in our journey to accelerate the connected frontline, which is a key tenet of our growth strategy,» Bill Burns, CEO of Zebra Technologies, said in the release. «An increased focus on self-service and consumer-facing workflows will expand our addressable market by approximately $8 billion and create a leading portfolio of solutions that digitize and automate the frontline of business.»

Zebra plans to finance the acquisition with cash and funds from its credit facility. Elo, whose previous majority investor was Crestview Partners, generates approximately $400 million in annual sales. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in 2025. Zebra anticipates the acquisition will immediately increase earnings and generate an additional $25 million in annual EBITDA by the third year.
