Johnston County Social Services in Smithfield, North Carolina, has launched a self-service kiosk designed to streamline case management for residents, according to a press release. This system allows individuals to scan and submit documents directly to their caseworkers, aiming to reduce wait times and expedite service delivery.

The kiosk, located within the Social Services office, provides an alternative to waiting in line at the front desk or using the outdoor drop box. Officials anticipate the new system will cut down document processing times by several days, thereby speeding up access to services.

«Our goal is to make it easier for residents to interact with us and receive the help they need without unnecessary delays,» Christine Dowdell, Johnston County Social Services director, said in the release. «The kiosk is already helping shorten wait times and improve the overall experience for the people we serve.»

This initiative is part of a larger modernization effort, with plans to install additional kiosks in other public county locations. To assist residents with the technology, a dedicated Customer Navigator will be on-site near the kiosk to offer support and answer questions.
