The New York State Department of Veterans’ Services unveiled its latest Veterans Welcome Center Digital Kiosk, located in the lobby of the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum in West Sayville, Long Island, according to a press release. This installation is part of a statewide initiative to enhance access to services for veterans, service members and their families.
The interactive digital kiosks, available 24/7, provide information and access to over 60 state programs and services. The program, first launched in 2021, has been highlighted by Governor Kathy Hochul and recognized nationally with the Abraham Lincoln Pillars of Excellence Award in 2024 for its innovative approach to veteran outreach. Several other states, including Florida, Maine, Nevada, California and Missouri, have reportedly sought DVS’s assistance to replicate New York’s successful model.
The kiosks are a collaborative effort involving DVS, the New York State Office of Information Technology Services, Empire State Development and various other state agencies. They are strategically placed in high-traffic locations such as airports, welcome centers, malls, train stations, museums and government facilities to ensure broad accessibility.
«By placing a Veterans Welcome Center Digital Kiosk in this sacred space, we honor his legacy not with words alone, but with action that connects Veterans to the care, benefits, and dignity they have earned,» Viviana M. DeCohen, commissioner of the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services, said in the release.
