The New Plymouth District Council has introduced self-service payment kiosks at its Civic Centre and Waitara Service Centre in New Zealand, aiming to provide residents with a quicker and more efficient way to pay for council services, according to a press release. The kiosks allow customers to pay for various services, including parking tickets, dog registrations, rates and building consents, without waiting in line.

«It’s all about creating efficiency and giving our customers options,» Ben Kohlis, NPDC’s manager customer and communications, said in the release. «People can still chat to our front counter team, but when it gets busy and people don’t have time to wait, the kiosk is another option to make payments as well as on our NPDC website.»

The kiosk at the Civic Centre has been operational for nine weeks, with the Waitara location having gone live on Monday, June 30. These user-friendly touchscreens accept EFTPOS, debit or credit card payments and are wheelchair accessible.
