Women in AV/IT has named Alexandra Garip, of AVI-SPL, as the first-ever recipient of the Mary Cook Empowerment Award: Designing the Future.
It is a scholarship created to honor the legacy of AV trailblazer Mary Cook, according to a press release.
«Alexandra exemplifies the talent, enthusiasm, and promise that Mary Cook fiercely supported throughout her career,» Brandy Alvarado-Miranda, Founder of WAVIT, said in the release. «We’re thrilled to recognize her as the first-ever recipient and to support her journey as she grows into a future leader in our industry.»
Backed by founding sponsor NV5 and in collaboration with Avixa, this scholarship offers a full InfoComm 2025 experience, celebrating Garip’s passion for AV system design, commitment to inclusion, and promise as a future leader in the ProAV industry.

The award will be recognized at InfoComm 2025.
