A hands-only CPR training kiosk, sponsored by Los Altos residents Bill and Laurie Brennan along with their company Credo, has been installed at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford.

This marks the third such kiosk provided by the American Heart Association in California, according to a Town Crier report.

The initiative was inspired by a personal experience of Bill Brennan, president and CEO of Credo, who witnessed a woman collapse from cardiac arrest in Tokyo in 2015 and felt powerless to help. This event motivated the Brennan family to facilitate CPR training for others. The kiosk aims to empower individuals to learn and practice life-saving CPR skills, addressing the need for immediate bystander intervention in cardiac emergencies.

«Hands-only CPR is simple to learn and can be quickly taught to almost anyone, empowering them to save a life,» Brennan told the news outlet. «We have learned that even imperfect CPR is better than none at all.»

The interactive kiosk features a touch screen video tutorial, a practice session with a manikin and provides feedback on compression technique. The training takes about five minutes and is available in English and Spanish.
