Epson Robots has invested in Blank Beauty Inc., a Tennessee-based startup, to develop a retail kiosk that allows consumers to create custom nail polish colors, according to an Assembly report.
The in-store kiosk utilizes Epson’s T3 All-in-One SCARA robot, along with other Epson automation technologies, to mix and dispense personalized nail polish in minutes. The kiosk, currently being piloted with a national retailer, enables customers to create a nail polish color and have it produced on demand.
«Epson has been essential in helping us take our concept to final deployment in just six months,» Charles Brandon, co-founder and CEO of Blank Beauty, told the news outlet.
Epson and Blank Beauty plan to expand their custom manufacturing platform to include other cosmetics and potentially other product categories like paints and fragrances.
