United Airlines experienced its best first-quarter financial results in five years, reporting record revenue of $13.2 billion despite a challenging macroeconomic environment, according to a press release. The airline highlighted a 4.9 percentage point year-over-year increase in pre-tax margin.

Notably, the report also indicated a significant shift in customer behavior regarding check-in methods. The airline stated that customers are increasingly adopting self-service options, with digital check-in reaching a record high of 85% in the first quarter, while kiosk check-in dropped to a record low of 8%.

Despite the positive financial results, United announced plans to remove 4 percentage points of scheduled domestic capacity starting in the third quarter of 2025 in response to the current demand environment. The airline also reported strong growth in premium cabin and international travel revenue and a solid operational performance for the first quarter.
