The Newmarket Public Library in Newmarket, Ontario, is expanding its services by installing book kiosks at two community facilities, according to a Newmarket Today report.
Starting February 20th, residents can borrow and return books at the Magna Centre and Ray Twinney Recreation Complex via self-service machines. Each kiosk, dubbed «Library on the Go,» will house a rotating selection of over 150 books for all ages. «We are so excited to be able to provide the community with the convenience of accessing Library books at busy community hubs,» Tracy Munusami, library CEO, told the news outlet.
The library budgeted approximately $95,000 for the project, following similar initiatives in nearby communities. The kiosks will operate by scanning library cards to check out and return books, providing receipts for transactions. The library hopes the new kiosks will increase accessibility and encourage community engagement with reading.
