Samsung at ISE 2025: Transforming the future of digital signage

From Myeongdong Square’s Iconic LED Landmark to Premium Cinemas and Luxury Resorts, Samsung Continues to Redefine Digital Displays Across Industries in 2025.

The global digital signage industry is on an extraordinary trajectory, set to grow at a 6.5% CAGR to reach $25.6 billion by 2028. This surge highlights a world increasingly captivated by advanced displays that not only inform but inspire—redefining engagement and efficiency across retail, hospitality, education and much more.

At ISE 2025, Hoon Chung, EVP of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, shared Samsung’s vision for creating digital signages with transformative power to redefine how people interact with their environments. «Our displays aren’t just screens; they’re platforms for innovation, engagement, and creativity,» said Chung.

From Seoul to the world: Myeongdong Square Serves as a digital landmark

Outdoor LED display at Shinsegae Department Store in Myeongdong

Samsung’s 71.8-meter-wide LED display at the Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul’s Myeongdong district is more than a screen—it’s a landmark redefining how digital signage integrates with urban environments. Dubbed Myeongdong Square, this massive installation draws comparisons to New York’s Times Square, not just for its scale, but for its ability to create an immersive storytelling platform in the heart of Seoul.

«Creating a display of this size and complexity required pushing the limits of engineering and design,» said Chung. Using advanced modular LED technology, the display achieves seamless visuals with uniform clarity and vivid colors across its expansive screen. Engineered with advanced brightness and durability features, the display also excels in diverse outdoor conditions without compromising performance.

Following the installation of this massive media façade, Shinsegae reported a 59% increase in visitors and a 50% longer stay compared to the same period last year, highlighting the display’s transformative impact on foot traffic and engagement.

Samsung’s expertise in crafting iconic digital landmarks extends beyond Seoul. In New York City, Samsung’s Smart LED Signage transformed the heart of Times Square with a breathtaking depiction of serene natural landscapes, offering a striking contrast to the city’s busy landscape. Similarly, in Vatican City’s St. Peter’s Square, Samsung provided advanced outdoor audio and video solutions, seamlessly blending technology with history to enhance the visitor experience.

Creating premium experiences through immersive digital signage

Chung also noted that Samsung’s diverse portfolio of digital signage solutions benefits from the collective insights and expertise gained across all its projects, from landmark installations like Myeongdong Square to custom solutions for hotels, sports, education, and much more.

«Our experience across verticals allows us to develop solutions that meet unique industry challenges while delivering consistently superior performance,» Chung explained. «The learnings from projects like Myeongdong Square contribute to a feedback loop that drives continuous innovation across all our offerings.»

«Samsung’s ability to deliver premium experiences through immersive digital signage is further demonstrated by its latest innovations showcased at ISE 2025,» Chung noted. «These include the groundbreaking 115-inch supersized signage, designed to captivate audiences on an unprecedented scale; the HoloDisplay, which uses 3D technology to create lifelike floating images; and the MICRO LED Beauty Mirror, which combines exceptional clarity with personalized beauty solutions. Together, these innovations are set to transform retail spaces, enhance museum exhibits, and bring the next evolution of audience engagement and experiences.»

From production to presentation: A canvas for content creators and audiences

The Wall for Virtual Production

Samsung’s digital signage solutions are revolutionizing the entertainment industry by offering specialized displays for every stage of the creative process, from production to presentation and much more.

For filmmakers, Samsung’s The Wall for Virtual Production provides a cutting-edge solution that redefines on-set visuals. With its modular micro-LED technology, The Wall delivers dynamic, real-time backdrops that adapt instantly to camera angles and lighting changes, eliminating the need for extensive post-production adjustments. This capability accelerates production timelines while maintaining exceptional image quality with stunning clarity, vibrant colors and lifelike contrast.

Onyx Cinema LED at Pathé Palace

For the ultimate viewing experience, Samsung’s Onyx Cinema LED screens bring cinematic visuals to life. Unlike traditional projectors, Onyx uses self-emissive LEDs to deliver unparalleled brightness, true blacks, and superior color accuracy. This technology offers consistent image quality across the entire screen, creating a premium theater experience.

A standout example is Pathé Palace in Paris, where Onyx screens provide audiences with an immersive journey into vivid, lifelike visuals. Chung noted that Onyx Cinema LED was selected as the winner in the Applied Technology category of the 2025 Inavation Awards, recognized for its transformative impact in the cinema industry.

Beyond the landmark: A canvas for new wonders

From landmark installations like Myeongdong Square to state-of-the-art displays in premium cinemas and luxury resorts, Samsung is redefining how digital displays are used to captivate, inform, and inspire across industries and spaces. Each solution builds on Samsung’s unmatched expertise, offering tailored innovations for industries while driving new possibilities in engagement and efficiency.

And while immersive experiences remain a priority, the growing demand for energy-efficient and easy-to-manage solutions has become increasingly important. At ISE 2025, Samsung unveiled Samsung Color E-Paper, which offers near-zero power consumption, and AI enhanced solutions

«Our mission is to turn every space into a canvas for wonders,» Chung noted. «Whether it’s a global landmark, a classroom, or a local retail store, Samsung displays will always create awe-inspiring experiences by transforming its environments.»
