A front-end manager at a Kroger Marketplace in Grovetown, Georgia, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $44,000 in cash from self-checkout registers, according to a Local 12 report.
Kimberly Summers was apprehended after a loss prevention officer observed her allegedly taking money from the registers over a four-month period.
Summers reportedly admitted to taking approximately $4,000, stating she was experiencing financial difficulties, according to the news outlet. Summers also allegedly said she had been pocketing Kroger’s cash since August, initially believing she had only taken $4,000, but the actual amount stolen was discovered to be closer to $44,000.
The incident is under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
