SNA Displays has partnered with Aldine Independent School District in the refresh of W.W. Thorne Stadium in Houston, Texas, according to a press release.

Aldine ISD partnered with a range of providers for the project, including SNA Displays along with WJHW, which provided consulting and design services; Comet Signs, which provided LED installation and locker room game clocks and other scoring and timing equipment; Phoenix Signs, which helped with the SNA Displays video board; and Durotech, which supplied general contracting services.

The project included installation of a SNA Displays 10mm Empire Exterior LED video board in the south end zone, measuring 26-feet-tall and 75-feet-7-inches wide, with SNA Displays overseeing the foundation, steel installation and catwalks; Phoenix Signs supplied headers, a mesh backing, and channel lettering for the SNA Displays video board.

The project also installed 332 linear feet of 10mm LED ribbon displays, along with a SNA Displays 2.5mm Bold Interior LED display installed in the Aldine ISD community center on the north side of the stadium.

The stadium serves as home for football and soccer programs for five area schools, including the Aldine Mustangs, Davis Falcons, Eisenhower Eagles, MacArthur Eagles and Nimitz Cougars, along with serving as a neutral site for Texas high school playoff matchups.

«We were thrilled to see this transformational project come to life,» David Vieira, principal at WJHW, said in the release. «Video displays are a critical part of the student and fan experience in any stadium, and SNA provided a fantastic product to meet our world-class expectations for execution of the design. We appreciate the ongoing collaboration with SNA on this project to achieve our exact design. This stadium is a critical gathering space for the community, and the video systems speak volumes about the quality that Aldine ISD expects to see to support their students, faculty, and staff.»

«By using high-end video to transform W.W. Thorne Stadium, Aldine ISD is demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the game day atmosphere for these schools and their fanbases,» Barbara Barry, SNA Displays’ director of sports and live events, said in the release. «These technology improvements will certainly be met with increased engagement and enthusiasm for Friday night lights!»
