Crypto ATMs return to Japan

Cryptocurrency ATMs are returning to Japan, after a four-year hiatus. Gaia Co. Ltd. is deploying ATMs that will offer bitcoin, ether, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, according to a report by Coin Telegraph.

Cryptocurrency ATMs left the market in Japan in 2018 when Japanese exchange Coincheck lost $530 million in a hacking incident. Gaia will initially install the ATMs in Tokyo and Osaka, with plans to deploy up to 50 ATMs in the next 12 months.

The ATMs will allow a max withdrawal of $747 per transaction.
